KINGSTON —

The Green Party of Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston is demanding the resignation of Randy Hillier immediately after his racist remarks on Twitter about federal Transport Minister Omar Alghabra.

On January 24, 2022, Independent MPP Hillier tweeted, “A terrorist speaks out to condemn Canadians to starvation” in response to a CTV interview with the Minister.  This is not the first time MPP Hillier has made a racist tweet towards a federal Minister.  On June 1, 2020, Minister Ahmed Hussen spoke about his own experiences with anti-black racism. To which MPP Hillier tweeted “A guilty conscience?”.

Local Green party candidate Marlene Spruyt responded today “We expect all of our elected representatives to be respectful of others regardless of their policy opinions”.

Mr Hillier has reached a new low and needs to step aside immediately. Residents of Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston deserve a representative with integrity.
